Candle Colors

Many believe the color of the Candle should be very carefully chosen before the Ritual. This may be true but I have also found that a pure white candle can be used for basically any purpose. A Candle like any other Magickal tool should be cleansed and blessed before using, some anoint the candle with Goddess oil. I don't really see the necessity in this, when you set up the altar the first thing a person does is cast the circle and consecrate the tools within it..that would include the candle- correct. I do use colored if they are in the house but I don't panic if I run out. Colors are used for specific rituals but there are colors for Zodiac Signs, Days of the week and the Sabbats. Every God and Goddess are also associated with specific colors. The following colors are suggested by Gerina Dunwich.

MAGICK CANDLE COLORS

BLACK- reversing hexes, banishing evil and meditation rituals
BLUE- astral projection, inducing prophetic dreams and magick involving truth and loyalty
BROWN- protection of familiars, pets and locating lost objects
GOLD- attracts cosmic influences and used in rituals to honor solar deities
GRAY- neutralize negativity and evil
GREEN- good luck, fertility, money and success
ORANGE- stimulates energy
PINK- friendship and love spells
PURPLE- household protection, healing and manifestations
RED- physical strength, aphrodisiacs, sexual passion, love, revenge
SILVER- attract the influence of the Goddess and dispel negative forces
WHITE- divination, consecration, meditation, healing and spiritual strength
YELLOW- attraction, charm and persuasion

SABBAT CANDLE COLORS

CANDLEMAS- Red, pink, brown
SPRING EQUINOX- Green, yellow, gold
BELTANE- Dark Green
SUMMER SOLSTICE- Green, blue
LAMMAS- Yellow, orange
AUTUMN EQUINOX- Orange, brown, yellow
SAMHAIN- Black, orange
YULE - Red, green, white

ZODIAC CANDLE COLORS- when performing any Zodiac related magick or horoscopes it is important to use the correct colors.

ARIES- Red
TAURUS- Green
GEMINI- Yellow
CANCER- White
LEO- Gold, yellow
VIRGO- Grey
LIBRA- Royal Blue
SCORPIO- Black, red
SAGITTARIUS- Dark blue, purple
CAPRICORN- Black, dark brown
AQUARIUS- Light blue
PISCES - Aquamarine

DAILY COLORS- each day of the week has a color associated with it. When meditating use the corresponding color.

SUNDAY- Yellow
MONDAY- White
TUESDAY- Red
WEDNESDAY- Purple
THURSDAY- Blue
FRIDAY- Green
SATURDAY -Black
